Inferno Season Starter for Barracuda Member

From one extreme to the other, Barracuda member Kevin Rogerson is swapping wintry temperatures in East Yorkshire for the sweltering humidity of Langkawi as he takes part in the Malaysia Ironman on 27th February.

With temperatures at a reported 40 degrees plus, Kevin says that he realises it will be a tough ask for a first outing at Ironman distance.

Kevin said: "In a moment of madness I entered on-line, well, it seemed a good idea at the time!  But I've been training hard and hope that I'll be able to cope with the temperatures."

Fortunately Kevin will not be alone for his Ironman attempt and by coincidence, fellow Barracuda Pete Overoorde will be on hand to offer some home support.

Pete said "I was tempted to take part as well, but my wife reminded me that it was strictly a holiday so I’ll have to pass for this year. However, I think it’s great that Kevin has decided to give it a go and I’ll be there urging him on from the beer tent! I think his biggest test will be acclimatising himself to both the heat and the time difference but if he can do that then there’s no reason why he can’t put in a good performance."

The winner of the 2009 edition finished in 8 hours 26 mins. Kevin has been a member of the Barracuda club since 2008 and has taken part in a variety of Olympic and middle distance events.
